a poorly behaved teenager, mahasahayudham (karthik) falls head over heels in love with a much older woman, meenakshi (sudha). he arranges for his parents to approve her marriage, but his mother, saroja (vijayakumar) disagrees with his choice, all the while trying to come to terms with his ill behavior. when meenakshi realises that mahasahayudham had orchestrated the marriage, she runs away to him. meanwhile, mahasahayudham must try to reconcile with his father (r. sarathkumar) after his teacher forces him to expel him from school.

mahasahayudham (karthik), a studious student from a good family, falls in love with his teacher, meenakshi (sudha), but is cruelly rejected by her father (s. n. surendar). mahasahayudham's childhood friend, the beautiful girl sindhumala (kavya) develops a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, prashanthi (suma), a promising astrologer. mahasahayudham challenges prashanthi to get the girl he loves. in the process, he forms a friendship with indhira (karthik) and prashanthi, who have their own problems. eventually, it turns out that meenakshi is not the girl whom mahasahayudham loved.
