How to Find Your MapInfo Pro Serial Number and Access Code
There are three ways to find your MapInfo Pro serial number and access code:
In MapInfo Pro 32-bit version, go to Help > click on About this MapInfo Product. The serial number and access code are displayed in the About this MapInfo Product dialog box. If it is a server based license (concurrent, borrowable or distributable), it will also contain Server Name and Port No. in this format: @. For example: (Fully licensed from 27000@PITNEYBOWES). For MapInfo Pro 64-bit, go to the backstage (PRO tab).
Go to the MapInfo installation directory and open UserInfo.log to get the Serial Number, Access code, Server Name and Port number details.
Through the Registry Editor. For MapInfo Pro 32-bit on a 64-bit Windows operating system, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\. For example: for MapInfo Pro 64-bit, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\.

How to Activate Your MapInfo Pro License
To activate your MapInfo Pro license, you need to install MapInfo Pro, if not already installed, and start the product. When MapInfo Pro is started for the first time after installation, the Activation Wizard launches. The MapInfo Pro Activation dialog box opens.
You can choose when to activate MapInfo Pro:
Activate NowSelect this option to start activation now.
Activate LaterSelect this option to start a 30-day courtesy period in which the product can be used without activating.
If you select Activate Later, the Activation Wizard closes and the courtesy period begins. The courtesy period enables you to use MapInfo Pro immediately and activate the product at a time that is convenient. Each subsequent time MapInfo Pro is started, a dialog box opens informing you of the time remaining in the courtesy period and giving you the opportunity to activate the product. MapInfo Pro must be activated sometime during the courtesy period to avoid interruption of work. When the courtesy period ends, MapInfo Pro cannot be used until it is activated.
If you select Activate Now, you need to choose one of the following activation methods:
Automatic ActivationSelect this option if an Internet connection is available. The Activation Wizard will make a one-time connection with the Licensing Server. Using the serial number and access code provided during the installation, the Activation Wizard will retrieve one of the licenses purchased and associate it with the computer where MapInfo Pro is installed. The activation process is finished and MapInfo Pro is fully licensed.
Email ActivationSelect this option when an Internet connection is not available. The Activation Wizard will guide you through the creation of an Activation Request file that must then be emailed to Software Support, using the email address activation@mapinfo.com.
To start email activation:
In the Verify Activation Credentials dialog box, double-check that the serial number and access code are correct and then click Next. Click Edit if corrections are needed.
In the Specify location to save Activation Request file dialog box, click Browse to select a folder in which to save the Activation Request file and then click Next.
In the Email Activation Request dialog box, click Email Request File Now or Email Request File Later.
If you click Email Request File Now, your default email program opens with an email message addressed to activation@mapinfo.com with an attachment containing your activation request file.
If you click Email Request File Later, make note of where you saved your activation request file so that you can attach it later when emailing Software Support at activation@mapinfo.com.
After emailing Software Support with your activation request file attached, wait for Software Support's reply email containing an activation response file attached.
Save this attachment on your computer where it can be easily located.
In MapInfo Pro's Email Activation dialog box (which should still be open), click Next.
In Locate Activation Response File dialog box, browse for where you saved Software Support's reply email attachment containing your activation response file.
Select this file and click Open.
The activation process is finished and MapInfo Pro is fully licensed.
How to Edit Your MapInfo Pro Serial Number and Access Code
If you entered an incorrect serial number or access code when installing MapInfo Pro, or if you upgraded from a non-premium license to a premium license to access Bing roads, you can edit your serial number and access code using these steps:
In Windows Explorer go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Mapinfo\Licensing folder (for 64 bit machines) or C:\Program Files\Common Files\Mapinfo\Licensing folder (for 32 bit machines).
Delete all files except LicenseService.exe.config file from this folder.
Start up License Service Utility from Start > All Programs > Pitney Bowes > License Service Utility > License Service Utility

Start up Mapinfo Professional
